DVB-S2
The DVB-S2 standard is the second generation of the Digital Video Broadcast for Satellite standard. The DVB-S2 standard provides greater bandwidth efficiency over existing DVB-S systems and uses the latest forward error coding technology, Low-Density Parity Check Codes (LDPC). Satellite communications using DVB-S2 are more efficient in their use of satellite bandwidth and provide increased network capacity.
Additional enhancements in DVB-S2 are the support of multiple modulation schemes including QPSK, 8PSK, 16APSK and 32APSK modulation and the ability to use different FEC Coding and Modulation Schemes including Constant Coding and Modulation (CCM), Variable Coding and Modulation (VCM), and Adaptive Coding and Modulation (ACM).
Adaptive Coding and Modulation is a key advancement in the VSAT industry because it allows for the dynamic allocation of bandwidth to each individual terminal based on direct feedback for the remote or terminal on how well the outbound link data is being received.
The Evolution series is the next generation of remotes and hub line cards from iGT and have been developed from the ground up to include DVB-S2 with ACM. These products allow a remote terminal, without any increase in symbol rate, to have higher absolute data throughput speeds. The implementation of DVB-S2/ACM on the outbound carrier will provide greater than 50% bandwidth efficiency compared to other DVB-S2 solutions without ACM.
DVB-S2 with Adaptive Coding and Modulation has been integrated throughout the iGT solution. Leveraging existing iGT infrastructure you can integrate the next generation of technology into your hub platform, while utilizing the iVantage Network Management System for easy management and configuration of new remotes and line cards.
Increased network capacity will allow for more units to be deployed in the field and ACM provides greater reliability for maintaining links during adverse weather conditions. iGT systems with DVB-S2/ACM provide the most efficient and secure solution available for government or military applications.
