John Ratigan – President

John Ratigan

John Ratigan is the President of iDirect Government Technologies (iGT), a satellite-based IP communications company that transforms the way the Department of Defense (DoD) and civilian government agencies get and stay connected.  He started the Federal group for iDirect Technologies in 2003 which resulted in establishing iGT as a wholly owned subsidiary in 2007.

Under his leadership the group has enjoyed tremendous growth and has deployed thousands of terminals in support of Operations OIF and OEF, as well as many Civilian networks.

Ratigan brings over 20 years of experience in the satellite communications arena.  Prior to joining iGT he ran the east coast operations for both Fairchild Data, and EFDATA and eventually partnered in his own company that helped EFDATA grow from $20 million in revenue to $120 million in revenue and 700 employees in 2000.   EFDATA became the preeminent leader in SCPC satellite technology in the late 1990’s and provided the baseline knowledge and expertise that would later benefit him in his role with iGT and the migration of technology into TDMA.  In addition to starting his own company, he held the position of Senior Vice president of North and South American sales for the start-up, Broadlogic, as companies started to run IP directly over satellite. 

Ratigan began his career in the US Senate working for Senator Bill Armstrong (R-Colorado) and eventually into the sales field with the Xerox Corporation as a member of the legal sales team.  

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from the University of Maryland.

Greg Walker – Senior Vice President

Greg Walker joined iDirect in 2004 bringing over 20 years of experience in the satellite industry. As Senior Vice President of iDirect Government Technologies he is responsible for managing sales and business development and has played a key role in the dramatic revenue growth of the federal team.

Prior to joining iGT, Mr. Walker spent 9 years as General Manager of North and South America for Codan USA. He founded the US based organization as a wholly owned subsidiary of the Australian parent company and developed it into a highly successful business. He was also responsible for opening European and Russian markets for the parent company. Prior to that Mr. Walker spent 8 years directing sales on the east coast for Fairchild Data Corp. He has also held sales and management positions at Anixter, TCI, and Burroughs Corp.

Mr. Walker holds a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and Management from James Madison University.

Karl G. Fuchs – Vice President of Technology

Mr. Fuchs is the Vice President of Technology of iDirect Government Technologies (iGT), a satellite-based IP communications company that transforms the way the Department of Defense (DoD) and civilian government agencies get and stay connected.  He joined iGT in 2004 as the company was expanding their presence in the VSAT market into new International IP networking opportunities and the federal government.

In his role as Vice President of Technology, Fuchs leads iGT’s team of federal systems engineers and serves as chief architect for new product integration as well as the chief technical resource

Mr. Fuchs brings over 15 years of experience and accomplishments in the areas of technology and the federal government. Prior to joining iGT, Fuchs was Director of Systems Engineering at Nortel Networks serving the Verizon account team where he lead a team of Systems Engineers designing IP, Frame Relay, ATM and DWDM networks. Before joining Nortel Mr. Fuchs designed IP and ATM networks for Sprint and the Federal Government.

Mr. Fuchs holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from George Mason University, Fairfax, VA and an MBA from Averett University, Danville, VA.

Jim Hanlon – Vice President of Operations

Jim HanlonJim Hanlon joined iDirect Government Technologies in 2007 directly from active duty in the Army where he served 21 years in a variety of positions, culminating in his role as Chief of Plans and Operations for the Joint Force Headquarters in the National Capital Region. In his role as Vice President of Operations for iGT, Mr. Hanlon is responsible for day to day operations, project planning and program security.

Mr. Hanlon’s military career includes recent assignments throughout Southwest Asia. He was selected to serve on the Coalition Provisional Authority (CPA) under Ambassador Paul Bremer in 2003 and was a member of a Joint Special Operations Task Force in 2005. Mr. Hanlon’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star with V-Device (Valor), Purple Heart, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal and 5-Meritorious Service Medals, Combat Action Badge, Ranger Tab and Airborne and Air Assault Badges.

Mr. Hanlon graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2002 with a Master of Science in Public Health with a focus on Public Health Response to Mass Casualty events. Since his graduation Mr. Hanlon has been an Adjunct Instructor with UNC in its Community Preparedness and Disaster Management online course offered to First Responders throughout the country.
